CONFERNCES
ISN, APSN 2022, August, Honolulu, Hawaii
Erika presented our latest findings since unfortunately, Rashmi couldn't attend due to visa issues. First international conference since COVID started! It was a great lineup, a very productive week, and a beautiful place to get back to socializing! Next year, Porto!
4th Protesostasis and Disease Symposium
Erika presented some of our new findings, based mostly on Rashmi's and Ilaria's PhD work at the 4th Proteostasis and Disease Research Symposium at the Novotel Wollongong. This was a fantastic little conference, with great talks, and opportunities to share and discuss ideas and collaborations. Highly recommended if you're interested in proteostasis.
Australian Neuroscience Society meeting, 2022, Melbourne
Almost our entire lab attended ANS this year, with Rashmi, Ilaria, Ingrid, Phoebe, and Gerald presenting posters, and Erika chairing a symposium she organized on the role of glial activation on neurodegenerative diseases. It was a fantastic meeting, with great outcomes, fantastic talks, catching up with old friends, and meeting new ones! Ended a year on a science high! Looking forward to ANS 2023 in Brisbane! Huge shout out to the organizers, doing a fantastic job!
Sensory Neuroscience Symposium, SoM, WSU
Right after ANS, the School of Medicine returned with the Sensory Neuroscience Symposium for the first time since COVID struck. The organizers were kind enough to include a Neurodegeneration session, where A/Prof Caterina Scuderi (Sapienza, Rome) gave a beautiful keynote, and Ingrid, Ilaria, and Rashmi (via Zoom) presented three amazing talks about their results. Fantastic work girls, I couldn't be more proud of how well everyone has done!
EBBS, 2023, Amsterdam
Erika organized and presented at a symposium titled "The impact of age-related neuroinflammation and stress on neuromodulators and glial processes", together with Prof Bart Eggen (Groningen, The Netherlands), Jorine Geertsema (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), and Dr Cleide Dos Santos Souza (Sheffield, United Kingdom). It was a great conference, with an excellent lineup, focusing on cellular control of behavior. Not to mention what a fun city Amsterdam is! and of course, it's always a pleasure to see A/Prof Aniko Korosi (University of Amsterdam).
